August Bank Holiday Rally at Emberton Country Park

Auguat Bank Holiday saw us finally make it to Emberton Country Park.  Whilst the weather was not what we had hoped for, those who attended more than made up for the weather with their participation in the events that took place over the weekend.

Friday evening provided an opportunity for us to get together over a little light refreshments and reflect on the challenges of getting the awnings up in the winds of the day amongst other things.  Saturday provided an opportunity to explore Olney and then we had a couple of rounds of sporting challenges ably accompanied by rum punch and Margaret’s infamous Key Lime pie. After Merv took an early lead, Ken came good in the second round and went on to win overall.  Sunday provided more time to explore the area and we then enjoyed Pimm’s O’clock with afternoon tea.  Unfortunately the weather did not enable us to BBQ together but it did warm up for Coffee on Monday morning. The Quiz attracted a very high number of entries and as there was a tie for first place between Sue and Merv and Brian and Joy we had top draw lots for the prize.  Sue and Merv were the lucky ones on this occasion. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the raffle, to Ken and Margaret for their help and to Margaret for the catering delicacies.
