Summer Surprise at Boutron Hill Farm

11 units joined Barry and Margaret for the Summer Surprise rally at Bourton Hill Farm.  This was the club’s first visit to this peaceful site at the foot of historic Edge hill but I feel sure it will not be the last.  Friday evening provided an opportunity for us all to get together for a natter and the odd bit of liquid refreshment.  Saturday was forecast for the odd heavy shower and we got one, just as we were about to sit down to the Margaret’s afternoon tea with a twist.  We had just started to put the chairs out when the clouds began to darken and the rains started almost exactly at 4.30, the time for tea!  Plan B was rapidly put into place and the tea was served in the awning.  The twist was Hearty Helpings does Master Chef with the objective being to identify as many different ingredients in the items as possible.  Four couples clearly had a much better palate than others and they all made a sterling attempt to identify the ingredients.  Joan and Danny won with 22.5 ingredients identified.  Paul and Carol, Sue and Steve and Lesley and John were the runners up, all scoring in the low 20’s.  Sunday was a beautifully bright and sunny day and morning coffee was an opportune time to celebrate Merv’s birthday.  Thanks to Barry and Margaret for a great weekend and to Margaret (Williams) for the afternoon tea with a twist.
